Samudra Madana refers to an episode or event mentioned in Puranas, specifically in the story of the churning of the cosmic ocean. The event is also known as the Kshera Sagara Manthan.

Devas and Asuras desired to obtain the nectar of immortality, known as Amrita, which was hidden in the depths of the cosmic ocean. They decided to churn the ocean using Mount Mandara as the churning rod and Vasuki, the serpent king, as the rope.
