Mandara is a holy mountain. Mandara is the mountain used as churning rod to churn the Palazhi to have Amruth , the celestial nector of immortality. Mahadev's serpent, Vasuki, offered to serve as the rope pulled on one side by devas, and on the other, by a their half brothers asuras .
