Veda

Vayu Purana story tells that once shiva’s attandent Nikumbha was worshiped as (Lord of gana) Ganapati in a shrine at Varanasi. King Devodasa’s wife Suryasha worshiped Nikumbha in orer to get a son, but Nikumbha did not answer her prayer. King become angry and ordered to destroy the shrine. Then by the curse of Nikumbha the city of Varanasi got ruined for a long period.
