Dry wood of sandal tree (chandana) is scented with pleasant smell. It is a customary practice for the Devotees, mainly Vishnu devotees to mark their forehead with sandal paste.

Sandal is considered as one of the traditional astagandhas . Sandal tree is a unique for it passes over all its noble possessions to Devas and devotees as a total submission.>/p>
