Swayamvara is the practice of choosing husband by a bride from among a list of suitors who arrive at the venue by invitation. This type of marriage is arranged only for royal family girls. The kings usually broadcast the news and sent messengers to distant kingdoms. Sometimes some tests are also conducted to prove the ability of suitors and to win the heart of the princess.
