Sage Rishya Sringa was son of sage Vibandaka. His mother was a deer, so he had a horn on middle of his head. He was brought up in an isolated place by his father, to keep him away from material life. But a girl called Vaisali lured him away to perform a yagna to have rain in a country which was suffering because of draught. He performed Putrakameshti Yajna, to have children for Dasaratha. Sri Rama and his brother were born as a result.
His wife is Santha. Santha was a daughter of Kausalya and Dasaratha and thus elder sister of Sri Rama. Anga Rajya king Lomapada adopted her as his daughter and given in marriage to Rishyasringa He wrote a book on bouquet and flower arrangement known as Malini Sastra.
