Prathyahara is the fifth of the eight limbed Astanga Yoga. The yoga expounded by Pantanjali in the Yoga Sutra have eight limbs: yama niyama asana pranayama pratyahara dharana dhyana samadhi

Pratyahara involves withdrawing the senses from external phenomena. Unwanted thoughts and activities are avoided and good habits cultivated by this step
