A son born to Sri Krishna of his wife Rukmini, Pradyumna was the rebirth of Kamadeva. He was a valiant hero; he killed King Salva who used to attack Dwaraka very often. Pradyumna fell dead by the beatings of the Bhojas during the bitter Mousala fight that broke out between Yadavas.

Rukmini had an elder brother Rukmi, king of Vidharbha. Pradyumna married the daughter of Rukmi called Rukmavati. Aniruddha was their son. The Dwaraka hair apparent Vajra was the son of Aniruddha.

Purana

When Satidevi, the consort of Siva died, Siva never woke up from his Tapa. Devi incarnated herself as Parvati, the daughter of Himavan,. Parvati started her penance to get Siva as her husband. It was a need of the Devas to get a son of Siva to kill the fierce demon Tarakasura. So, the Devas employed Kamadeva to create a feelings of love in the ascetic Siva and make him marry Parvati. Taking instructions from Indra, Kamadeva took aim at Siva with his bow and arrow. Siva was then in deep meditation felt distracted by the arrow of Kamadeva; Siva got angry. He opened his third eye and burnt Kamadeva to death. Grief stricken by the death of her husband Ratidevi performed penance near the Himalayas to propitiate Mahadevi. Mahadevi appeared before her and consoled her and told that Kamadeva would be reborn as Pradyumna the son of Sri Krishna and she would reunite with him on earth. Accordingly Ratidevi was born as Mayavati.

The demon Sambra was once cursed to be killed by the son of Sri Krishna and Rukmini. When Pradymna was born, Samba came to Dwaraka in invisible form and carried away the infant on the sixth day of his birth. The demon threw the child into the ocean and a great fish swallowed it. A fishermen caught the unusual fish and presented the fish to Samba. when Mayavati, the wife of Sambra cut the fish she got the infant inside. At first she cared it as her child and when she came to know about her previous birth as Ratidevi and the boy as Kamadeva from Sage Narada she fell in love with the boy. The boy Pradyumna when came to know about the attempt to finish him by Sambra and being saved by Mayavati, killed Sambra, married Mayavati and returned to his parents Sri Krishna and Rukmini.

Pradyumna was also married to another demon girl named Prabhavati, daughter of Vajranabha
