Lankalakshmi
लङ्कालक्ष्मी
laṅkālakṣmī
Lankalakshmi was the guardian of the royal city of Lanka. She became an Asura women because of a curse and was relieved of her curse by a hard stroke of his hand by Hanuman.
Lankalaksmi was Vijayalaksmi in her previous birth. She was the watch-girl of the treasury of Brahma and one day finding her negligent of her duties Brahma cursed her to be the watch-girl of the palace-gate tower of Ravana. She begged for relief and Brahma pacified her and told that during the incarnation of Visnu as Rama a mightly monkey will then knock her down by a fierce blow of his hand. She will be then released of the curse and go back to attend her old duties.
