A voracious, cruel and terribly strong Rakshasa or demon who lived in a cave near the city of Ekachakrapura whom Bhima killed to the great relief of the citizens.

Purana

Immediately after escaping from the Arakkillam Pandavas took refuge in a house offered by a brahmin family. Pandavas stayed there for few days without disclosing their real identity. The village though look peaceful was under control a demon called Bakasura and people were sending a carriage full of eatable and a man to the Asura. The aura is sure to kill the man and eat him along with the other eatable.

One day the turn of the family came up and all of them started crying each offering themselves to go and other don’t let them go. Kunti offered them help in the tragic moment. Bhima volunteered to go and went cart full of eatables. Bhima ate most part of the food on the way and came late to the cave of the demon. Baka rolled his eyes in anger at the sight of the late-comer. But Bhima without heeding him sat in front of the demon and started eating rest of the food. Baka charged at Bhima with fury but Bhima defended and a battle ensued in which Baka was killed and he fell dead like a mountain-head dropping down.
