Dhanvantari in Puranas is the physician of the Devas, and the God of Ayurvedic medicine. The Puranas state that Dhanavantari emerged from the 'Ocean of Milk'. He taught surgery methods and procedures to Susrutha, the Father of Ayurvedic Surgeon.
