Basava purana is a biographical t work by Palkurike Somanatha relating to the life and achievement of Basaveswara, a 12th century. Basavapurana is the Bible of the Lingayats; but it is taken as very holy by all other Hindu communities. This work originally in Telugu was rendered into Kannada by Bhima Kavi in 1369 A.D. Kannada Basava Purana contains the entire core of the original with more descriptive details added to it.
