Gargya
गार्ग्य
gārgya
Gargya composed some of the Sukthas of the Atharvana Veda. Gargya was also considered a language expert before Panini. Panini mentions Gargya twice in Nirukta. He was of the view that all words are derived from roots. Propositions when separated from verbs and nouns have no meaning. Yaska opposed this idea and gave too much importance to Propositions.
Another sage in the lineage of Gargya is Garga.
