Ashtagandha
A group of eight different types of holy fragrances is called Ashtagandhas, The materials making this is used independently or it is mixed in various proportion for use in puja and for Tilaka. There are regional variations, however the list is as follows, Chandana (Sandal), Guggulu, Kumkuma (saffron), Ramacca (Usiram-Sweet rush), Iruveli (Valaka), Kasturi, Gorochan (red sandal), Akil (Eaglewood).
