Sruti is music tones. Sruti is the smallest gradation pitch a listener can identify or discriminate from the other. Svara is a selected pitch from the different sruthis. As per Natyasastra of bharatia muni there are 22 Sruti.

Veda recognize Sruti as reveiled texts. ruti are the revelations, the Rishis do not composed them from their intellect, but just saw them (Srutim Pasyanti munayah). They are apaurusheya, not created by any man. The Samhita part of four Vedas and Brahmana, Aranyaka, Upanishads which are an integral part of Veda come under Sruti. The vast literature of Agama and Tantra also come under Sruti.
