Coomaraswami
Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy (1877-1947) was a high profile Indian philosopher and art historian. He was a multi talented personality, His writings are primarily with aesthetics, visual art, mythology, religion, and metaphysics.
CHe was born in Ceylon in 1877 of a Tamil father and an English mother. Coomaraswamy was brought up and educated in England. Soon after his education, he became interested in traditional arts and crafts of India and Ceylon. In his work ‘ The Dance of Shiva (1918)’ he combines the mythology with art in a modern perspective.
Coomaraswami finds the Veda is devoid of any historical content and as containing an original metaphysical tradition. Aryans are pioneers not of conquest, but of law and order.
