In General

Upamanyu is a Vedic Rishi. His father was the sage Vyaghrapada. Upamanyu was a pupil of Ayoda Dhaumya. He composed Shiva Sahasranama and gave it to Sri Krishna.

Purana

In Siva Purana, Linga Purana, Kurma Purana and also in Adi Parava as well as in Anushasana Parava of epic Mahabharata we find him. He named Sri Krishna’s son in Jambavati as Samba.
