Swami Dayananda sarasvati (15 August 1930 – 23 September 2015) was a prominent Vedanta scholar and orator who associated with Chinmaya mission and established Arsha Vidya Gurukulam.

He was born in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu to Shri. Gopala Iyer and Smt. Vallambal couple. He associated with Chinmaya Mission as a young organizer and later as a sanyasin. He was considered as the most important person after Chimayananda Swami. He was among the founding personalities who established Chinmaya Mission. He moved around India and abroad and gave lot of lecture on Bhagavad gita and Upanishads. The first batch of ascetics of Chinmaya Mission was taught and brought up under his leadership. Later he moved away from Chinmaya Mission and started Arsha VidyaGurukulam.

The head quarters of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam is in Rishikesh. The Gurukulam have few other centers in India and abroad. Arsha Vidya Gurukulam foucs on residential courses on Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. The centre also conducts various other activities and satsangs. Swami Dayananda Sarasvati is also a prolific writer who authored hundreds of books on various Vedanta texts.
