Gandharvas are sons born to Kasyapaprajapati of his wife, Aristha. In Purana they are celestial musicians. Gandharvas, Yakshas, Kinnaras are a particular class of beings whose unifying characteristic is material case, prosperity and a beautiful, happy and undisturbed self-indulgence; they are angels of joy, art, beauty and pleasure. Their vahana (vehicle) is vajin, (Horse).
