Mahanarayana U. is a famous U. which forms the tenth prapathaka of the fourth section of the Taittiriya Aranyaka. It is often considered as a khila or supplement to the Taittiriya Upanishad as it comes next to Taittiriya Upanishad in the larger text of Taittiriya Aranyaka. The well known chanting mantras, Narayana suktam, Medha suktam and Durga suktam are parts of Mahanarayana Upanishad. The U. is also known by the name Yajniki U. The Drvidapatha version of Mahanarayana U. has 64 sections.

Brahman has many aspects as Prajapati, Parameswara, Akshara Brahman and pervade everywhere; the knowledge of that alone give one the liberation. Various kinds of upasanas help to achieve the realization of Brahman. Narayana, the cosmic being exist in our heart and meditation on it is a method for liberation of the soul. Pranavam, Madhu mantra, Gayatri Mantra, Trisuparna Mantra are also means for liberation; so also is various kinds of yajna.
