(1873-1906 CE) Svami Ramatirtha was a popular spiritual luminary in the early years of last century. He was from Miraliwala(Punjab province of British India – now in Pakistan) and had a good education background. He met Svami Vivekanda in 1897 at Lahore and got inspired by him. In1899 he left his family and job as a professor of Mathematic for a spiritual endeavor. Initiated by Himalayan Sages he went through intense spiritual sadhana in their Himalayan hermitage. In his brief public life he advocated for political freedom of the country from British. He travelled few years abroad and spread the message of Vedanta in America and Japan.

There is another Ramatirtha who lived during 17th Century CE. He was a disciple of Svami Krishnatirtha, an advaita vedanta sage. His commentary by name Vidvanmanoranjini on Vedantasara of Sadananda is famous.
