(CE 1493-1568) He was scholar and high official in the court of Hussain Sha, but renounced the word after meeting Srikrisha Chaitanya, a bhakti cult sage. Rupagoswami, his brother Sanatanagoswami and nephew Jivagoswami then lead the Bengali bhati cult and came to be known as the three jewels of Bengal Vaishnavism movement. To this movement devotion to Krishna is the sole means of redemption. Rupagoswami wrote extensively on bhakti; some of his famous treatises are: Bhaktirasamruthasindhu, Lalitamadhava, Ujjvalanilamani, Vidagdhamadhava.
