Parasara Smriti is one of the oldest Smriti and is popular even today. Parasara Smithi, also called Parasara Dharma Samhita is a code of laws, which is stated to be the text to be followed for the present Kali Yuga. The 602 verses of Parashar Smriti is arranged in twelve chapters and by which it preaches its whole moral discourses in unequivocal terms. Conduct and expiation are the main subjects dealing with the text. The subjects it deals with are: Sandhya ritual, Vedic studies, duty of each varna, asauca, remarriage of women, chaste widows, expiation for pranihatya(killing of cows, other animals and humans). Purification of well, various kinds of bath.
