Pampa , a Kannada poet

Pampa is considered as the adikavi of Kannanada literature. He wrote AdiPurana and Vikramarjunvijaya. Both were written in Champu style. Pampa lived in the court of Adikesari 2 of Rashtrakuta dynasty. Adipurana is a Kannada version of life of first Jain Tirthankara Vrishabhadeva by Jinasena. Vikramarjunvijaya is a version of Mahabharatha. His period is 10th Century CE. He is one of the ancient Kavithraya of Kannada language, the other two being Ponna and Ranna
