Brahmavidya
ब्राह्मविद्या
brāhmavidyā
Brahmavidya refers to the knowledge of the ultimate reality or the Self, as taught in the Upanishads and Advaita Vedanta. Learning sastras under the guidance of an Acharya (guru) is essential for understanding the real meaning of the divine verses and achieving this self-knowledge. The path to Brahma Vidya involves adherence to righteous conduct (aachaaram and anustaam), performing one's duties (karmaanushtaana), spiritual practice (upasana), and ultimately jnana (wisdom).
