Bodhendra Saraswati Swamigal (1610–1692 CE), the 59th Pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. He is celebrated as one of the trinities who established Nama Sankeerthanam, along with Sri Sridhara Venkatesha Ayyaval and Sri Marudhanallur Sadhguru Swamigal.

Sri Bodhendra Swamigal was born to devoted Brahmin parents, Sri Keshava Panduranga Yogi and Srimati Suguna Ammal. They named the child Purushothaman. Kanchi Sankara Mutt adopted the child at the age of five and he subsequently taught Vedas, Puranas, Shastras, and Advaita philosophy, laying the foundation for his spiritual mission.

Reading Bhagavan Nama Koumudi, a treatise on the efficacy of chanting divine names, by Lakshmidhara Kavi at Puri Jagannath changed his life. This marked the beginning of Sri Bodhendral’s life-long mission to establish Nama Sankeerthanam as the Yuga Dharma (the spiritual path for the age). Sri Bodhendra propagated the the divine name of Sri Rama
