Uparama or Uparati can be broadly defined as the strict observance of one's own Dharma. This is one of the Sadhana Sampathi the Advata School of thought promotes. A man has duty towards family, friends, Guru & society. However Upamana means renunciation of activities which are not duties. Following the two practices Kshama and Dama, the mind will become peaceful and calm. Then contentment provide a mind with no desire. It will follow sanyasa dharma or renunciation of all works.
