Nitisathaka

Nitisathaka is a work by Bhartrhari , a 1st century CE (or 7th Century CE) wandering Monk. The most appreciated work is Niti Satakam. Vakyapadiya, a principle authoritative Sanskrit grammar by him is a popular text still in use. He was born in royal family with King Vikramaditya who ruled from Ujjain his half brothers. The literary genius Vararuchi (one of the Navaratna of Vikramaditya’s court) was also his half brother. His poetries are compiled as Sringara Sathaka, Nitisathaka and Vairagyasataka. Each of them have 100 hymns known as Subashitas
