Lunar day

A lunar month consists of 30 Tithi. It corresponds to rotation of moon which appears waxing and waning in the night sky. There are two phases in a cycle of rotation (in a month), namely Krishnapaksha and suklapaksha. Each phase got 15 days and are called as: Prathama , Dwitiya , Tritiya , Chaturthi , Panchami , Shashthi , Sapthami , Ashtami , Navami , Dasami , Ekadashi , Dvadasi , Trayodasi , Chaturdasi , Amavasya / Purnima

Moon takes 27 days(27.3) to make a rotation around Earth but the relative position of moon in sky with respect to Sun changes. Moon takes an extra 2 days to catch up this distance and come to the initial position. So a lunar month is 30 days(29.5)

Year of birth, solar month, Tithi, Nakshatra , muhurtha are some of the data we keep for a man/woman regarding his birth
