An elaborated literary composition in which verse and prose are used together. The early Malayalam literature like Manipravala sahithya are in champu form. The verses Manipravala sahithya are in Sanskrit metre and prose in Dravidian style. The Chakyar artists of Kerala still use this style of literature for their performance called Kuthu in which the same subject is continued through alternations in prose and verse.
