Kamsa made many attempt to identify and kill his probable killer born on earth according to prophesies he had. Aghasura was one among them.

Purana

Aghasura, brother of Bakasura and Puthana, deputed by Kamsa to kill Krishna assumed the form of a serpent and with its mouth opened like a cave lay on the road used by the Gopalas. Mistaking the snake mouth as a cave the Gopalas including Krishna and Balabhadra entered the serpent's mouth. But the serpent could not afford to eat Krishna and thus vomited everybody out and died
